So...many...games!

If you read this site using a web browser (as opposed to an RSS reader) you may have noticed that the right sidebar, which usually only displays one game at a time, has grown significantly in the last few weeks. Occasionally, I'd put two games there at a time, as I usually do play more than one game at once (especially when I travel), so that wasn't entirely unusual when two games showed up there a few weeks ago. But then I started playing Outlaw Golf 2 online a few times a week, so the list grew to three...but now it's at four, and there's really no excuse for that beyond the obvious fact that there are so many games out there that I'm helplessly torn between them.

The games are more or less listed in priority order. I'm primarily playing that unnamable game, as that's single player only. But I'm also getting in quite a bit of Burnout 3 (which rocks), and I'm having a blast with the Crash tour. But I'm also playing Halo 2, although purely over Xbox Live for the time being (I'll play the single player campaign after I've finished my priority title). And then on top of all of those, I'm also playing Chessmaster, which is really a lot of fun, even though I suck at chess.

With four games already on the sidebar, I'm going to have a hard time finding room for Half-Life 2 when it comes out on Tuesday. Short of locking myself in a room this weekend to finish a few games, I think I'm going to wait a bit before I tackle that challenge.

But hey...isn't this holiday season great? I mean, can you remember the last time there were so many games being given perfect scores from major publications?

Probably 1998, AKA the year of ridiculousness? Starcraft, Half Life 1, Ocarina of Time, Grim Fandango, Final Fantasy 7 etc etc. It's nice to see another time period finally where a zillion really strong games are hitting the shelves, it's just frustrating that instead of a year, this time around we're getting them all within about 2 months.
